Writing Real Life Stories
07/20/2019, 01:00 PM
Writing workshop with Louise Allan about writing memoir and stories from our lives.
Where: Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre, 11 Old York Road, Greenmount, Perth, Western Australia 6056
More Details: Tickets available here. Many people want to write their personal stories but hold back because of fear of writing about private matters, fear they will be judged, and fear of writing about other people. It’s such a shame because storytelling is a powerful way to find meaning and connect with others. This workshop will cover the many good reasons for writing about our memories and lives, and how to conquer the fears that prevent us from doing it. We’ll also cover how to write a vivid picture of our personal experiences so that the reader feels they are there. During the workshop, we’ll write short exercises to a couple of prompts. We’ll also look at how to draw a unique meaning from these experiences, so the story will remain with the reader long after they’ve read it.

I’m available for author talks at your library, writing group or writers’ centre. I’m happy to discuss ‘The Sisters’ Song’ or talk about writing in general.
If you’d like to book a speaking engagement, please let me know via the CONTACT page.
Please note that due to the preparation, time and travel involved, I charge the fee recommended by the Australian Society of Authors for these events unless it is for a charitable cause.
I’d love to visit your book club to discuss ‘The Sisters’ Song’ and its inspirations, themes and development. For more information, click here.
